Résumé Spectrum
by Dave Hansen

Background:
While students are capable of reading about résumé preparation or listening to a presentation, it is possible and perhaps more fun to do a self-guided résumé tour using the world wide web. This tour, involving visiting different sites, reading about different types of résumés and their uses, and utilizing an online résumé builder, should give students the tools they need to begin the job application process.

Target Audience:
High School Equivalency Students ESOL 3-4 New College Graduates

Objectives:
1. Students will understand the purpose of a résumé.
2. Students will explain the differences between the three main types of résumés and when to use each.
3. Students will build an introductory résumé and print a hard copy or post electronically

Lesson:
ˇ Have students go to: http://www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/fil/pages/listresumerda.html

ˇ Browse the different sites to get an overview of resume writing.

ˇ Have students go to: http://www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/fil/pages/samresumesda.html

ˇ Ask them to follow the sampler and answer the questions.
