Internet Lesson Plan

Web sites:
MapQuest, Day's Inn, Holiday Inn, Pizza Hut, Wendy's, or other places that suit the students' preferences.

Instructional objective:
The student will visit the web sites to obtain the information such as routes, food, lodging and money, needed to plan an automobile trip from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles, California

Teacher's responsibilities:
1.The teacher will teach the students to initiate a search on the Internet.
2. The teacher will assist the students in locating the specific Web sites that are needed for the project.
3. The teacher will assist the students in turn in their information into hard copy by printing it.
4. The teacher will lead a group discussion about routes, food, lodging, and costs that each student obtained.
5. The students will determine cost of food per day and determine the location of restaurants on the Internet.
6. The students will determine cost of gasoline for the trip.
7. The students; will print out information as it is gathered.
8. Students will be encouraged to interact and cooperate in the project.

Student assessment:
1.Teacher observation of the students' proficiency using the Internet.
2. The quality of the hard copy that the search generates.
3. The students' participation in the group discussion and report.
Follow-up activity: Search the Internet for airfares and air schedules to compare the advantages/disadvantages; of driving as opposed to flying.
